Take Airtrain on the third floor of T4 , on any track , to T8.
You will clear customs and immigration after you land at T4.

hi
i'm arriving at terminal 4 by etihad airways at 4:30 pm. then i have a connecting flight at terminal 8 to columbus at 8:55 pm. how do i reach terminal 8 from terminal 4. what are the protocols i need to follow at jfk between flights(i'm a first time traveller)?

This is what you have to do :
-clear immigration
-pick up your bags(if you have any)
-clear US customs
-transfer the bags at Etihad connecting flights counter(of you have any)
-go to the third floor and take Airtrain on ANY track to T8.
- clear security on the third floor of T8 and look for the gate for the flight to Columbus.

Sir I would reach JFK at 19:55 and my next flight to columbus is 20:55. there only 1hr 15mins wait time.. for immigration check and all.. Will that time gap be sufficient?? Can u pls suggest what should i do 1st.. first should i collect my baggage or clear my immigration??
DIstance between immigration and baggage collection??

Both american airlines.... AA-131 london to jfk and AA-4692 JFK to CMH

This is what you have to do after you land:
-clear immigration
-pick up your bags(if you have any)
-clear US customs
-transfer the bags at AA connecting flights counter(of you have any)
-go to the third floor for clearing security
Then look for your gate for the flight to Columbus.

The time is very tight for you - hope that LHR flight is not late.
You will have 30-40 min in immigration/customs, another 10 min to transfer your bags and probably 10-15 min to clear security.
Keep in mind that AA will close the boarding process 10-15 min before the departure time.

Hello,

My wife is arriving from Finland with infant. She has just 2h 15 min to transfer to AA flight to SFO. The questions are:
--> She is arriving to and departing from Terminal 8 and she need to pass immigration and custom and then return to the terminal. Does it mean she need to pass passport control twice?
--> How far is the passport control & custom from the gates?
--> Can I order an assistance for her in advance?

1. She have to pass immigration and customs upon entering the US, not the terminal.
Here is what she has to do :
-pass immigration
-pick up her bags(if any)
-pass customs control
-transfer her bags(if any)
-clear security
-look for the gate for her next flight

2.Immigration/customs are on the first floor, gates are on the third floor.It depends where the gate is it could be up to 10-15 min walk.

3. I am not sure if you can do it in Helsinki - let her ask the airline employees once she lands at JFK.
