You have enough time to go to the city and come back. Check with the airline that you flying on from SFO to JFK if the bags will be transfered automatically.

Your luggage should be transferred automatically, but double check with your carrier. 11 hours should give you plenty of time. Cab it into manhattan or take the air tran to either the A or E subway lines which will take you into manhattan. Good luck.

I am from Arkansas trying to figure out this fancy transportation systems.
I am arriving to JFK. My final destination is Ronkonkoma Station via LIRR.
So.... I take AirTrain JFK to something Jamaica (This is where I get confused!) From where ever the AirTrain JFK stops in Jamaica....how do I get to Penn Station to get to LIRR to Ronkonkoma?

Can someone just clear that up for me...PLEASE!!!!
Thank you SO much!!
:)

You will take Airtrain at any terminal , on track 1 to Jamaica station( be careful - on that track there are two alternating trains going to different routes; check the sign above the doors as the train arrives; the red colored sign is Jamaica one).
Jamaica Airtrain station is connected with Jamaica LIRR station(it is 30sec walk between them) , so just follow the signs to LIRR - there are monitors there that will show you which track the LIRR train to Ronkonkoma departs on.
You do NOT need to go to Penn Station.

What is the best way to get from JFK (arriving on Delta) to Penn Station in Manhattan (33rd and 7th)? Thank you.

Two ways:
1. By public transportation:
Take Airtrain from any terminal on track 1 to Jamaica Station( be careful - on that track there are two alternating trains going two different routes; check the sign above the doors as the train arrives; the red colored sign is Jamaica one). Then either:
-take subway line E to Penn Station(total fare - $7.25;~1 hour) or
-take LIRR train to Penn Station(faster;total fare ~ $12, less on the weekends; 35-45 min.)

2. By taxi:
Yellow cab (from JFK to any point to Manhattan) costs flat rate of $45 + bridge toll($5.50). The price is for the whole taxi, not per passenger.

Hi, can you please tell me how to take public transportation from jfk to the candy hostel in manhattan[316 West 95th Street, New York, N.Y.
Subway stop: 96th st (line 1,2,3)]? I am arriving at 10pm on a sat night with Virgin America. Thank you!!

Take Airtrain from any terminal on track 1 to Howard Beach Station( be careful - on that track there are two alternating trains going to different routes; check the sign above the doors as the train arrives; the green colored sign is Howard Beach one). Then take subway line A to Columbus Circle stop, then transfer to line 1 going the same direction; get off 96th street stop (cost-$7.25).Walk one block south on Broadway and turn right on W95th street - the hostel is block and half away (on your left).

I'm arraiving at terminal C through Delta. where to collect the baggage. How to get to air train and reach federal square for Howard jhonson shuttle service.

There is no Terminal C, all JFK terminals are numbered. Delta is Terminal 2 and 3. When you arrive follow the signs to Airtrain and take any train on Track 1 to Federal Circle.

hELLO.
I have 7 hours and 31 minutes at the JFK to my next flight to Boston. I would like to takea train to the Manhattan. I know which way to take, but I´m not sure if I have enough time to go back to the airport to take my second flight. So how long does it take from the JFK to the Times Square (for example)??
Thank you for the answer :)
Have a nice rest of the day

It will take you 1-1.5 hours by public transportation to get to Times Square and the same coming back to JFK so that's about 2-3 hours total travel time. Remember to leave enough time coming back to clear security for your flight to Boston.
