time to clear airport
Hi
How long normally does it take to clear customs in Kennedy airport?
I am an international traveller but will be boarding from San Fransico (after spending my time in west coast) and will have some luggages to be checked out.
My flight should arrive on 15 June early in the morning.
I am thinking to book Amtrak for DC but hesitate in booking the time.
what is the earliest to book? I prefer to have some spare time.
Would you also please advise what is the spedier method to travel to meet the train?
Is there likely to be delay with the custom or flight?

If you travel from SFO then you won't go through customs at JFK. If you take a taxi(yellow cab) from JFK to Penn Station it will cost you flat fare of $50.50 and travel time is ~40 min.
You can also use Airtrain to Jamaica and then LIRR train to Penn Station - it costs ~$13 and travel time is ~40-45 min.
Give yourself 30 min to pick up your bags at JFK.

question about transfer time
If I fly from Atlanta to JFK and change planes to fly to Shannon, Ireland . . . how much time should I plan between flights to do the luggage transfer thing?
I am looking at flights to book and the one Travelocity comes up with has me arriving at 8:15 and taking off at 9:55. Is that enough time?

It sounds like you will be flying Delta. In that case you won't change the terminals(or if you change them you will stay behind security); your bags will be transferred automatically. The time window is enough.

I am landing on 2h at 14h00 coming from Dubai at T4. I have a connection on T3 to Miami. What is the fatest way to proceed

Take Airtrain on the third floor of T4, on track 2 and get off next stop - Terminal 3.

Newark Airport
I am travelling over from the UK with my final destination being Minnesota. I arrive at JFK airport and need to get to Newark for my flight to MN. I have 4 hours between arrival and departure.
Please can you give me the best option based on both speed and expense.

There is a shuttle between the two airports but it takes longer. Taxi is your best bet - it will cost you ~$90.

JFK to Troy NY via the train/metro
What is the best way to get to Troy NY from JFK via the train/metro system? Penn station or Grand Central? I will be arriving at 4:30 pm off an international flight.

Amtrak train to Albany will be your best bet in this case . It departs out of Penn Station.

Delta connection flight
Hi, I'm flying from Shannon to JFK on Delta and am getting a connecting flight 4 hours later to San Francisco on Delta also. I was wondering do I get the boarding passes for both flights at Shannon or do I have to get my bags and check them in again when I get to Kennedy airport?
Also, a friend of mine was thinking of coming to meet me at the airport for something to eat while I'm waiting for my next flight. Would that be possible or are all the restaurants past security? Thanks!

In most cases when you are flying same airline they give you boarding passes for all you connecting flights.
It is possible to go to the restaurants that are located pre-security - Terminal 4 has a lot of them.

visiting Ithaca NY
I´m visiting Ithaca NY for the next month, I´ll be arriving to JFK airport from my home country Mexico, so my question is: Is there any other system of public transportation located in or near the JFK so I could get to Ithaca during the arriving day ?
