1. Yes you have to clear your bags through customs. It is US customs regulation that passengers coming from international flight, must clear through customs before proceeding to domestic flight.
2. Airtrain is the best one to use. Just make sure you take the right direction. Airtrain operates in circles in both dirctions (i.e. one that goes 4,5,6,7,8,9,1,2,3 etc, and other 4,3,2,1,9,8,7). Ask those people wearing red jacket designated for directions/info. Hope it helps.

Yes, and its jetblue, not sky blue.

Hi
I come in from Brussles and am travelling to Orlando. I come in on jet Airways and travel out on American Airlines. They both operate from terminal8. Can I use a planemate? And where do I do my Immigration clearance?

You won't be able to use a planemate in this case. You will be clearing immigration/customs as everybody else and then board your flight to Orlando.

My daughter's flying into JFK from London Heathrow and then connecting in the same terminal to a domestic flight.
Is there any service that offers assistance to chaperone through JFK and onto connecting flight ??
She is flying with American Airlines. She is just 17.

Travelers Aid JFK Airport offers meet and assist service. Here is the website:

You can also find them on Facebook.
A donation to this organization will be greatly appreciated.

I will be flying from RIC on Jet blue on September 11 2010 with my child and arriving on T6 at 20.00. Then I have to catch a flight of EK on T4 to Dubai which departs at 2300. Do I have enough time to transfer between Terminals? What is the best way to do so? How long does it take to get the luggage once I land in JFK and how fast can I get to T4 to do the check-in for my next flight.

Regards
Krina

You will be arriving at Terminal 5. It takes aprox 10-25 mins to get you bags. After that go to the third floor of the building and follow the signs for the Airtrain. Take it on track 2 and get off next stop-Terminal 4. It takes a minute to transfer between.
You have enough time to catch your EK flight.

Hello This is Sandeep Kumar from India. I'm coming to Saint Louis lambart Intl Airport on 26th July from Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi Intl Air port On F1 VISA.

My travel plan is as follows

AI 141 Hyderabad to Bombay 26th July 21.00-22.25
AI 141 Bombat to JFK 27th July 00.45-07.10
AA 4492 JFK to Saint Louis 27th July 08.55-10.45

My doubt is that the time gap is very less to catch the connecting flight at JFK i,e 1hr 45 min.
will there be Immigration checkup or any like that so that i may miss the connecting flight. Is it possible for all the formalities to be completed in 1hr 45 min time duration.

If i miss this flight will the JFK Air port Authorities will provide any alternative.

Please reply.

Hello Sandeep,
The connecting time is really tight for you - you will have to pass immigration, pick up your bags and pass customs. Then you have to recheck your bags again with AA. This whole process can take up to 1hr-1:30 min. In case you miss your connecting flight, AA will reschedule it with the next one available.

We see that a lot of the users/readers of this web site do not use it properly.
There are two ways of registering and posting questions/answers:
- Register with the web site. To register you do not need anything else but an e-mail address.
The registered users can see their posts right away.
- Post as not registered user. In this case your post will show up delayed/up to couple of hours/.
If you post as not registered (not verified) user come back in couple of hours to see and verify that the post is there.

Also, it is very good idea to research the web site before you post a question – may be the problem has been discussed before. To do that use google.com:
Put in google.com
keywords site: www.jfk-airport.net .
For example if you looking for public transportation to Times Square, this is what you will put in Google:
Public transportation Times Square site: www.jfk-airport.net

Try not to post urgent questions – there is nobody standing by and answering questions as they come.
And again, this web site is not affiliated with Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the company that manages JFK Airport.
The website is simply a tool that helps people with experience to share it with people that need it.

What is terminal to check in for Delta flight DL 1?

You can check-in at any of the Delta terminals:
-T2 - it is very calm and no lines there; connected to T3 behind security.
-T3 - always busy and long lines
-T4 - after check-in you have to take a bus(or Airtrain) to the departing terminal (either T3 or T2)

Is their a PATH station near JFK airport, as I have to get to Jersey City?
