After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

Unfortunately, whoever sold you the camera misinformed you that you can get tax back when you leave USA. The practice was ceased many years ago.

Yes, different airlines have different areas and procedures. Contact the airline for further instructions.

Thank you again for the help. I just got info on the pup and he will be on KLM airline. I am not familiar with this air company so I will take your advice and try to contact them to see their procedure. Are there carts available(to rent or use) to wheel his crate to outside pickup area?? Any other advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again so much for help, this question and answer area was a great idea!!

You may want to check with Delta - they handle the KLM operations at JFK. Carts are available through the vending machines on the curbside(mainly on the departure level).

I will arrive at JFK by American at 8:10PM and take the Airtrain to National Car Rental and then go to the American Cargo Terminal to get my dog who will be on the same flight with me. How do I get from National to the American Cargo Terminal? How late is American Cargo Terminal open?

I don't know how late is that building open(you can check with AA once you land). From Federal Circle(that is where the rental cars are) you have to follow the signs to cargo Area B - that is where the AA cargo buildings(bldg. 122 and bldg.10) is located. Actually cargo Area B is located next to Federal Circle and you will be able to see the AA cargo buildings from there.

Hi - I'm a single female and am emigrating to the US from Ireland in 2/3 weeks. I shall be travelling with approx 6/7 cases and two cat carriers. Will there be anybody there who would be able to help me with my baggage - just to help get me from the baggage collection point to my contact who will be waiting for me on arrival?

Just look for baggage handlers or ask any airline employee to call one for you.
