History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The golf course provided the airport's original namesake, Idlewild Airport. First commercial flights began on July 1, 1948. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

hi! i'm flying (aer lingus) at 3:35pm into jfk. i have 2 problems, 1. where do i collect my dogs (traveling cargo on the same plane) once i have landed? at the baggage claim area? aer lingus in ireland had no info. i then need to get to newark airport or my sister-in-law in hillsborough, nj. can super shuttle take me to either location, i will have 2 crates, 3 suitcases. any help would be apprec. thanks

Look for Travelex exchange places - at T3 they are near Gate 1, Gate 6 and Gate 15. All of them are past security check points.

You may not use a video
You may not use a video camera to record airport or security operations. You're probably ok if you limit recording to the immediate gate area, immediate terminal entrance, etc.

It takes on average 30-50 mins. Take NYAS express bus($15) to Times Square. Or Airtrain to Jamaica Station + subway E to 42nd street($7.25 altogether).
