Connecting from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 with 2hr 15min layover

Hello, my friend, a woman who does not speak English, is flying from Moscow/Russia on Aeroflot with a little girl and 4 big bags to Atlanta. She won a green card and will be carrying some sort of documents backing this up. She has a 2hrs 15min layover between arriving form Moscow on Terminal 1, to leaving to Atlanta on Delta on Terminal 3. She is EXTREMELY WORRIED that she will not have enough time. Someone told her that there is a new process that requires fingerprinting that may take a long time?

Can someone PLEASE help with the exact details of the steps that one will take with her or similar status, after arriving to Terminal 1 to boarding the plane on Terminal 3.

PLEASE be specific and provide as many details as possible.

I TRULY APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!
Thank you so very much.

Immigration paperwork and procedures may take a long time especially upon arriving in the U.S for the first time on a green card (Up to 3 hours). When booking that flight please allow 5 hours in between flights to have a comfortable connection time. It better to be safe than sorry. As far as your second question if you happen to make that connection you will need to pick up luggage at terminal 1 check it through Customs. Go to the 3rd floor of terminal 1 take an air train on track 2 to terminal 3 and recheck your bags with your second flight career.

Please be kind to explain why Delta and Airflot assured me that 2hrs 15min was MORE than enough, before we bought the tickets. And yes, we bought the tickets through Expedia and I specifically asked this question from the person who was assisting me with placing the order and he assured me of the same thing? What will happen if she misses her flight because of the immigrations? I know that Delta 5pm flight to Atlanta is the last flight that day. Who will have to pay for this mistake and what will happen to her and her little girl in the meantime until the next flight the next day?

Those airlines may not be aware of the timing for the whole immigration process in the U.S. If she happens to miss a flight and it is not the airlines fault then the passenger would be responsible for booking another flight. In my opinion you are looking at one possible option. You can try to rebook the second flight for the next day and your friends can use the hotel room until the next day flight.

A colleague and I arrived at JFK (Terminal 1) Tuesday evening on Iberian airlines. We went through immigration, collected our bags, went through customs, and re-checked our bags within 200 feet or so of customs. [We have a claim check for these bags that is for Madrid to JFK to LAX.] We then proceeded to Terminal 2 and our flight on Delta to LAX. Apparently Delta did not receive our bags and Delta does not seem to be able to connect with this re-check counter. What can we do to determine what happened to our bags at the Terminal 1 re-check desk? Is a phone number available for the re-check desk?

You can always give Iberia a call. Their number is provided on this website.

I will be arriving at T1 with alitalia and 2 kids and a baby. In 6 years of traveling with kids and babies, I have learned that every aiport is differnet on their policy for gate checked strollers... Will I be able to have my stroller for my 5 hour connection and long haul through security and customs!!!???? My one year old is very heavy and too little to walk and it feel like the middle of the night for her when we arrive. Help! and Thanks!

Yes you should be able to.

When arriving on Alitalia connecting to United (terminal 7) is 2 hours enough time to clear customs, collect bags and connect to my domestic flight? I booked my West Coast-JFK-West Coast on United - separate from my JFK-MXP-JFK flights on Alitalia. United has just informed me that my return flight is leaving 1/2 hour earlier than originally booked - leaving 2 hours instead of 2 1/2 hours to collect bags, clear customs and get to the United domestic terminal. I'm concerned about now having enough time to get from the International Arrivals to the domestic departure. Any input - much appreciated.

Al Italia arrives and departs from terminal 1 at all times. Your time frame of 2 hours is good to make that connection. You dont need to be concerned since 2 hours is enough to make a connecting flight.

Alitalia will most likely arrive at T1. After you clear customs take any AirTrain on track 1 from T1 to T7. You will need to check-in with United at T7 and clear security. It will be a tight connection, especially if customs at T1 is busy, allow at least one hour for customs.

Hi!My mom is coming from Russia. She doesn`t speak English. She arrives at ter 1 (aeroflot) and she has connected flight to Orlando from ter 3 (delta). As I see the easiest way to get there it is a airtrain. So my questions are how long it takes? And a airtrain on which track does she have to take?
