Hours of Operation
AirTrain runs 24/7,
- Depending on route/time of day - trains run every 7–15 minutes,
- depending on time of day and route.
We have luggage, and therefore have been advised against taking the train. Two sleepy kids with afternoon arrival from Europe.
- would a taxi have room for the 4 of us, or should we take the bus to the hotel?
A taxi should be fine. It costs around $40 to Manhattan + Tips. It is advisable to get a pre-paid cab to your destination.
Nine of us are due to arrive at terminal 7 in a few weeks time for a week long trip to NY .We arrive at approx 7.30 pm on a wednesday. Can any one help with travel arrangements from the airport to 7th Ave. We are considering taking the subway, probably buying a 7 day travel pass. Is this possible / a good idea ?
If you do not have much luggage, take the AirTrain to Jamaica station and LIRR train from there to Penn Station. Penn Station is located on 7th Ave.
However, if you are nine, it makes sense just to take three cabs. Each cab will cost you about $50, while the train will cost you about $12-13 a person.
Subway, if you have luggage, is not recommended. Will take you about 1.5 hrs, and for non-New Yorkers it is very confusing. It is the cheapest option, but still costs you $7 a person($5 for AirTrain and $2 subway fee).
good luck
You can take the shuttle and then the subway. $5 one-way, or $7 one way I think.
it is fairly safe.
it does take a while to get to the City -1.5-2 hours one-way.
it would take nearly the same amount by bus - (?) (there are $15/ one-way buses, I forget the name of the companies, they go to Midtown - Grand Central Station and maybe somewhere else).
I am going to use long term parking at JFK Do I pay to go to the terminal? Also the Air train does it run 24hrs or are does it have certain hours?
Thank you
When parking in long term parking do you need to take a shuttle bus to Leffert Station once parked in Long term to get on the airtrain to the terminals.
We will arrive on Saturday 2nd of April at 17:05 and i wonder which is the easiest and cheapest way to get to Manhattan.
Thank you in advance for advising me.
Kind regards
Malin

Are there any events for that weekend??? I'd love to go to NYC and show my friends another side to new york while I'm there. I'm hoping the cherry blossoms will be out.
