Time in transit
Hi, I have a quick question for those using the JFK.
I will be coming from Europe and have about an hour between my flights. However, since the flights are booked separately and include several airlines, I have the feeling that I have to pick up my bags and then re-check them.
Any ideas how long that'll take in JFK in a normal Wednesday evening, after six p.m? Just wondering if I'm going to miss my connection because of luggage hauling. (Not to mention the flights might be miles apart - one is international arriving, other domestic departing... No idea)

2 pieces of carry on luggages plus a handbag...
Am I allowed to bring with me 2(two) pieces of carry on luggages(each 10Kg) plus one small handbag inside the flight? JAL International flight departure from JFK.
Do you think I will be pass the security check X-ray officer by carrying these lugggages?

Are the terminals open 24 hours a day? Is it permissable to stay in the terminal overnight for an early morning flight?

I have a package arriving from another country and it has been sutck in customs for 5 days. When can I expect for it to be released and shipped on to me?
Help!
Is there any way to find out if I can get someone to take me from one terminal to the next? I am traveling on Saturday May 17. I arrive via Delta airlines and will depart from Turkish airlines. My flight arrives at 2:56pm and my next flight leaves at 4:00pm. I have 1 hour to find my way there and I got lost the last time I came there in '06. Is there anyone I can get to just take me straight when I arrive to where I need to go? Help!
Terrible treatment & missing items.
I'm a professional boxer. I went to Germany, march 4th, to train with I.B.F champion, Arthur Abraham & team Sauerland. My trip went without a flaw. I returned to the u.s., march 23rd. Upon my arrival to j.f.k airport, I was questioned about the reason for my trip(routine, not a problem). I was then sent to be searched by customs, (problem, I was the only Afrikan American on the flight & the only person to have their bags searched). Then when I arrived to my final destination (pittsburgh), my bags did not. I was told that my bags were held up by customs. I questioned this being that my bags were cleared when they were searched in my presence. My bags were returned to me the next day. I opened them to find numerous items missing. I'm not upset at all. I just want to thank you for reminding me that Afrikans, born and raised in America, were at one time considered 1/5 of a man, and still are currently, to some.

Look, many people get held
Look, many people get held up by customs and many people get things stolen of confiscated. The fact that you are "AFRICAN" most likely has nothing to do with the fact you got stopped and your bags were searched. Next time, pack all valuables on your carry on and dont bring anything that could even possibly cause you to be stopped.

My mother and myself want to visit NYC in june this year. Unfortunately, she broke her arm last year and now has a metal plate with some screws to fix the bones. My question is, because the metal detectors will find this, what kind of documents should we bring with us for the security check?

I had both hips replaced a few years ago. My orthopedist gave me a card saying that I had a foriegn b ody implant in my hips. I carry this with me and present it when flying. I am usually, however checked anyway. This puts me in the catagory of first boarding due to my handicap and extra time I take for boarding. Good luck.

Many people have this issue. There is no problem. You may want to get a letter from your doctor signed and dated that your Mother had a metal plate installed recently. Either way, she will be stopped and hand-searched. They will pat her down, take off her shoes and use the wand. If they dont find anything other then the metal plate (with the wand) then they will let you both on your way. Just make sure she doesn't have anything else metal on her because that may trigger a full search.
In transit from Netherlands to Bahamas via JFK
We are due to travel from The Netherlands to The Bahamas and have a very tight connection at JFK. As we won't be staying in the United States for any part of our itinary, do we still need to clear passport control and customs or can we transfer directly?
