Hours of Operation

AirTrain runs 24/7

  • Depending on route/time of day - trains run every 7–15 minutes,
  • depending on time of day and route.

40th St./Lowery is easily accessed by mass transit. See my caveat after the directions:

Air Train to Jamaica Station; switch for subway on other side of Long Island Railroad station: take the E train TOWARD MANHATTAN. E travels express in Queens; it's maybe a half-doze stops to ROOSEVELT AVE/74TH ST. where you will transfer UPSTAIRS to the #7 TRAIN bound for MANHATTAN. A few quick stops to 40TH ST/LOWERY.

CAVEAT: there have been rail work service changes of late. If they are happening while you travel you will have to take the #7 to QUEENSBORO PLAZA where the train will terminate (having run only express stations through Queens, bypassing 40th St./Lowery) and then returning through Queens as a local. You will need to take the 7 Local BACK to 40th St.

Take Amtrak Acela to Baltimore

Take Air Train to Jamaica, then LIRR to Penn Station...the 1,2,3, A, C and E trains will take you from there to 42nd Street, Times Square, one stop!
Total time: about 40-45 minutes.

Hi, I arrive at JFK from Beijing via Air China. I need to get to Times Square from there. Any ideas on how to navigate the ladybrinth AirTram and public transport routes?
