JFK International Airport AirTrain
AirTrain JFK is the train service that operates between JFK
International Airport, Long Island Rail Road trains and New York City Subway.
It also serves as an on-airport service connecting the airline terminals, rental
car facilities, hotel shuttles, and airport parking lots.
Air Train JFK has
3 routes:
- Howard Beach route
The Howard Beach route ends at the Howard Beach-JFK subway station. It stops
at Lefferts Boulevard (connecting transit services - B15 bus) for shuttle buses
to long term parking lots A and B and to airport employee parking.
Connecting transit services: A subway train, Q11 bus
- Jamaica Station route
The Jamaica route ends at Jamaica Station on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR)
next to the Sutphin Boulevard/Archer Avenue-JFK subway station (to Brooklyn
and Manhattan or Queens).
Connecting transit services: E, J and Z subway
trains, Q6, Q8, Q9, Q20A, Q20B, Q25/Q34, Q30, Q31, Q40, Q43, Q44, Q60 and
Q65 buses
Both routes make a counterclockwise loop through the airport and stop at each
terminal.
- Airline Terminal route
The Airline Terminal route connects 6 terminal stations (Terminal 1, 2-3,
4, 5-6, 7 and 8-9). Route operates in the opposite direction, making a clockwise
loop.
All JFK AirTrain stations are wheelchair accessible. Howard Beach subway and
Jamaica Long Island Railroad stations are wheelchair accessible too.

- Rides between all other JFK AirTrain stations are free

Public transportation will get you there. Take AirTrain from terminal to Jamaica Station ($5), transfer to LIRR ($8.50/$6.25) or E subway ($2.25) to Penn Station, transfer to Amtrak (faster but more expensive-$40-$60) or NJ Transit NE Corridor train ($15.50) to Trenton, transfer to the Septa regional train ($3.75) towards Center City-Philly and get off at Bristol. Take the 129 bus ($2.50) towards Oxford Valley Mall near the hotel. You could also try a shared ride shuttle from JFK, inquire at Ground Transportation.

I need to get from JFK to the Nassau Blvd Station to visit Adelphi College. Do I take the JFK Airtrain Station to Jamaica Station and then Jamaica to Nassau Boulevard? Or should I just take a cab?

Taxi is most direct and would cost around $45. You can certainly take LIRR-Hempstead Line from Jamaica to Nassau Blvd. ($6.75 peak/$5 off-peak) and local taxi or a short walk to the campus.

The closest subway to the UN
The closest subway to the UN is at 42nd St/Grand Central and walk four long blocks east on 42nd St to the UN. Take AirTrain from terminal to Jamaica Station, transfer to E subway to Lexington Ave/53rd St, transfer to downtown #6 subway one stop to 42nd St. You can save the walk by taking the eastbound M42 crosstown bus from subway to 1st Ave.
