1. Yellow cab - the price will be on the meter; expect to pay anywhere between $40-$50(for the whole cab), depending on the traffic conditions.
2. Airtrain to Jamica Station; Subway E to Roosevelt Ave; Subway F to 21 str-Queens Bridge; walk two blocks on 21st street towards 39th Ave; make a right on 39th Ave; walk 4 blocks to Crescent Street and make left. Cost - $7.25 per person.

How I do get to Double Tree Guest Hotel located at 1568 Broadway St. from JFK by subway? If I take a cab, will there be a lot of traffic around 6:00 pm heading to the hotel from JFK ?

I'm flying in on a Friday night, 8:45. Connecting flight Saturday morn, 7:50 am, international flight. Since the long delay, thinking about getting a room close by. How much trouble is it to leave and come back, plus, how much time will I need to get through international security lines?

All the hotels around JFK have free shuttles out of Federal Circle Station(reachable by Airtrain from any terminal). The security lines should not be that long at that time of the day, but anyway give yourself more time and be at the terminal at least 2.5-3 hours before departure time.

2.There is shuttle(look for it at Ground transportation counter or Welcome Center) that goes to any hotel in Manhattan for $18.50 per person.(~50min-1:15min)

3.Take Airtrain from any terminal on track 1 to Jamaica Station( be careful - on that track there are two alternating trains
going to different routes; check the sign above the doors as the train arrives; the red colored sign is Jamaica one). Take subway E to Times Square/42nd street stop.It will cost you $7.25 per person.(~1:15min)

Moscow/Charlotte connection for Elderly
My mother will be flying in on Delta 31 on May 6 from Moscow Russia with a transfer at JFK to Charlotte, NC, on Delta 6028. She doesn't understand any English (not one word). Our concern is for her going through customes and getting from one gate to another. Do you know what gates/terminals Delta usually uses for these flights and is it possible that someone will be able to help her find the correct gate?

What you can do in this case is(I have seen it a lot) write down a note in english with the info of the connecting flight. Let her show it to any uniformed employee and they will guide her through the terminal.

The taxi will cost flat $45+$5.50 toll.
The public transportation will take somewhere between 40min to 1hr.
That address is very close to Penn station. From there take either:
-take subway line E(direction Queens) to Jamaica Station or
-take LIRR to Jamaica Station(faster but more expensive)
At Jamaica Station take Airtrain to JFK Terminals.
