JFK International Airport

We have a Delta flight into JFK terminal 3 this week and a connecting Delta flight from terminal 3 to Israel that has a scheduled departure an hour later. When we booked it, the Delta agent said that was enough time, but I'm now thinking it might be very tight with the added gate security at the Israel gate, even though our bags are checked through and we're in the same terminal. Is there anything we can do (e.g. tell the flight attendant on the domestic flight about the connection and she cal call ahead to tell them to wait?) If we miss that flight, we're pretty badly messed up because the flights the next 2 days are all booked full.

I am writing from a plane sitting on the runway at JFK. We have been sitting here for more than an hour with no end in sight. I understand that work is being done on the runway and it is important for the long term improvment of he airport, but someone needs to do a better job of managing the traffic. Tell airlines to cut back on flights. Find a way to route cross traffic better so flights can take off and land more rapidly. Tell airlines not to load planes until there is a slot to take off. Anything is better than his situation, which is completely unacceptable. I am in the customer service industry and if I did this to my customers, I would be fired. It's not acceptable.
