After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

You CAN leave the airport. Check with the airline you flew on to JFK if they will transfer your bags(you have to pick up you bags in order to clear US customs).

I am traveling from Delta , terminal 3 to terminal 1 Air France. Can I walk and how much time? Will my bags be checked through to France?

"Can I walk and how much time?" - yes, it is 10 min walking distance.
"Will my bags be checked through to France?" - check with Delta if they will do/did that.

We will be flying in on a red-eye flight and we are wondering if we are allowed to board with a light blanket or horse-shoe shaped neck pillow?

Yes, you are allowed.

Hi there,

I have a two hour layover in JFK this summer to break up a flight from LAS to DUB. And was wondering if two hours is enough time to go outside the building, smoke a cigarette, go back through security and get back to my gate?

Thanks in advance

There is plenty of time to do that. Don't forget to take your ticket/boarding pass and passport with you when you go outside - you will need it back to clear security.

I am arriving at NY City (Port Authority Bus Terminal at 40th and 8th Avenue)a friday in July at 4:30 pm. Appx what time should I expect a taxi-ride will take to JFK from there? ( and app charge?)Or is there a faster/ easier way to get to JFK a friday afternoon? I am hoping to catch a long distance plane heading for Europe at 7 pm.
Thank you :-)

It usually takes 35-45 min for a taxi. The rate is flat - $45.50 + $5.50(bridge toll).
It is a traffic peak at that time so give yourself plenty of time.

My flight from MEX gets in to JFK around 9 pm and I am wanting to get to Albany, NY. Should I spend the night hours at the airport, (if so where,) then take a bus to Albany in the am? Where would I go first? I don't want to get stuck in Central Station at mid-night and arrive in Albany at 3 am...Thanks so much for your help...

Check the Greyhound bus web site http://www.greyhound.com/home/
for their schedule.
Or Amtrak train web site
http://www.amtrak.com
You can spend the night at Terminal 4 which is open 24/7.

Hello:
I've just had surgery on my foot, and need to catch a flight next week.
It'll be difficult for me to maneuver with my crutches and my luggage.
Is there any way the airport can accommodate someone in my condition as soon as I get out of my cab for instance with a wheelchair and help with luggage?
Thanks in advance for your insight.

Call a baggage handler as soon as you get off at the curbside - he will call wheelchair assistant and help you with the bags.
